Ember After

Ember After

My lost and lonely Bear
Within the raucous streets
Lurching from sight to sound
Wide eyed, a friend to meet.

This way, this path, this road
She could but sense, leads home.
Yet it to stranger ways
Confused within a honey comb.

I cried to see her safe.
I prayed to make it so.
I called her name out loud.
To guide her, if she heard, you know.

I keep expecting there
To find her walk to me
Or see her dancing eyes
Reflect the sun, the sky, the sea.
